Combat Stress

Combat Stress is the  UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health.
For almost a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, we provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict. On the phone and online. In the community and at our treatment centres.
We’re on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. So when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to help them take on the future.

Spotlight on...Beverley Festival of Christmas 2017

Description of service:
Victorian Christmas Market, Santa and his live Reindeer, Street Entertainment, Christmas Parade and much more.
Sunday 10 December 2017 from 10am to 4pm across Beverley town centre.
The event can be really busy, so the organisers have tried to spread the crowds out and create quieter areas and work with town centre venues to provide activities away from the main areas.
Market stall areas can be found in North Bar Within, Saturday Market, Wednesday Market and Flemingate Shopping Centre in order to utilise more of the town. The crowds within North Bar and Flemingate should be quieter and less condensed but still have market stalls, live music and entertainment for the family.
There will be activities in various venues across the town centre:

·        Toll Gavel United Church is open from 10.30am with festive live music and hot drinks/food and you can contact them direct as there will be things they can do to help accommodate people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Tel: (01482) 882325
·        The Guildhall in Beverley will be open from 10.00am - 3.00pm and will have Victorian themed activities for children. This will be a quieter space away from the centre of the market. They can be contacted to provide more information in advance of the festival.
Tel: (01482) 392783
·        The Treasure House will also be open throughout the festival and will have a Christmas Crafts Drop In (free entry) where children can make festive decorations and gifts.

A test version of a new government service has launched to remind drivers by text message and email when their MOT is due.

The GOV.UK service, developed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), makes it easy to get a reminder every year when your vehicle’s MOT is due.
When you sign up, you’ll get a reminder:
  • 4 weeks before your MOT is due
  • 2 weeks before your MOT is due, if you still haven’t had it tested
You’ll also get alerts that your vehicle no longer has an MOT.
You just need the vehicle’s number plate (registration number) and a mobile phone number or email address.
You’ll get a reminder every year until you unsubscribe.
